Ankle Pain

Ankle pain is often tied to a rolled ankle or sprain, but it can also build from overuse, old injuries, or arthritis.

A rolled ankle that never quite feels right again is a very common story.

About ankle pain

Ankle sprains happen when the ligaments that support the joint are stretched. Swelling, bruising, and stiffness can linger, and past sprains make the ankle easier to roll again.

Common symptoms

  • Pain and swelling around the ankle
  • Stiffness or a sense of instability
  • Tenderness along the outside or inside of the ankle
  • Pain when walking, pivoting, or running

Common causes

  • Rolling or twisting the ankle
  • Repeated sprains
  • Overuse or uneven surfaces
  • Arthritis or an old injury

How High-Pressure Cryotherapy (HPC) may help

High-Pressure Cryotherapy (HPC) uses high-pressure carbon dioxide (CO₂) to rapidly cool the skin over a specific treatment area. For ankle pain, the treatment area is the sore part around the ankle. HPC may help with pain and inflammation in that area. The recommended regimen is usually 4 to 5 sessions, then we reassess together. Many patients report relief after one or two visits, although individual responses may vary. HPC does not rebuild a stretched ligament. It treats the sore area, and for many people it may help manage pain and inflammation around the ankle.

Every treatment begins with a free consultation. Typical treatment takes about 3–6 minutes per area. HPC is not a substitute for medical care and does not replace a diagnosis.
